Tuscany is a must visit because of its history, arts, wines, food and spectacular beauty of its countryside. What about celebrating a special birthday amidst the Tuscan hills like in Cortona, Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, San Gimignano and the Florence countryside? I had the pleasure to do it for a client & friend from California a few weeks ago. I arranged a full day of celebrations, starting with a private Brunello tour in a scenic Montalcino winery, visiting ancient cellars and tasting the best and most known wines of Tuscany, Italy. Next stop was at a cheese farm nestled on a hill of the wonderful Orcia Valley near Pienza where we enjoyed a traditional Tuscan lunch that featured handmade pasta with the farm’s organic wheat, and of course their excellent and delicious pecorino cheese in front a spectacular view. This special day in Tuscany couldn’t end without a visit of the beautiful city of Siena where we enjoyed the view of the amazing Piazza del Campo with the monumental Palazzo Pubblico, and the incredible architecture of the Cathedral. The top of the celebration was dinner in a local restaurant that serves traditional cuisine of Siena, Tuscany: focaccia with wild boar and pork hams, handmade pici with wild boar sauce, tagliatelle with fresh porcini mushrooms, sliced beef tagliata with rosemary-scented olive oil, roasted veal with mushroom sauce...all paired with a great Chianti Classico from a family-run winery just out of Siena. A birthday candle could not burn better but on a freshly made tiramisù, especially made for this occasion, what a surprise!!! Wouldn’t you want to celebrate your birthday like this with me in Tuscany, Italy???
